National Cancer Survivors Day at Red Rocks Cancer Center Join us at Red Rocks Cancer Center’s Celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day (NCSD) Sunday, June 3, 2012. You will become an important part of our community’s celebration of life on this annual day of celebration. We will have our special emcee, Dr. James Rouse, author and spokesperson for King Soopers’ Optimum Wellness, very special guest speakers including Polly Letofsky, author of “3MPH” a walk around the world for breast cancer and “Dr. Evil” (aka Dr. Kevin Schewe, Red Rocks Radiation Oncology). The event also features a live band, food and drinks, vendor booths and door prizes throughout the day. This day is a victorious milestone for cancer survivors. In our first year (2011) we hosted more than 850 guests! This year our theme is the psychedelic sixties and we’re anticipating more than 1500 guests. On National Cancer Survivors Day we honor our citizens who are living with and beyond cancer. Cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, friends, and healthcare professionals will unite in this symbolic event to show the world that having an active, productive life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. We will join hundreds of communities worldwide in celebrating life as part of the 25th annual National Cancer Survivors Day. A “survivor” is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life, according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation. The event is a cooperative effort of Red Rocks Cancer Center and the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation and is sponsored nationally by Coping® magazine. NCSD is a treasured annual celebration as well as a time to bring attention to the issues cancer survivors face. Major advances in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment have resulted in longer survival. National Cancer Survivors Day (NCSD) – Get Your Groove On! The Red Rocks Cancer Center is a 501(c) 3, which provides unified coordination and education for the care of patients diagnosed with cancer. Supporting these patients during their difficult time of treatment and recovery is what the Cancer Center is all about -– from streamlining appointments to cooking classes with their “Kickin’ Cancer in the Kitchen” program to celebrating life at their annual National Cancer Survivors Day event. Red Rocks Cancer Center is located in the new Red Rocks Medical Center, an 18-practice facility dedicated to one-stop patient care at 400 Indiana Street, Golden, CO 80401.
